Coloring And Art Activities Families Can Share At Home

Parents often look for fun ways to keep their child active and continue learning at home. Over the years, parents have gotten better and better at providing fun ways to keep their little ones busy with random things found in their homes. All it really needs is permission to use stuff in the house and an unbridled imagination.

Families who enjoy their time cooking together, can use this as their family hour on weekends or when they can all get together. If you have colorful meals to prepare that have fruits or vegetables, ask your little children to group the colored ingredients and let them help out with the cooking. This may not directly be a coloring activity, but this helps your toddlers and preschoolers with color identification.

  • Pretend House PaintersAside from using regular paper as your canvass, try using a full spread of Manila paper that you can tape to a wall. You now have a wall where your children can pretend to be house painters. With their washable watercolors placed in a bucket of water, they now have their paint. You can add more water to the color depending on their preference whether they want it thick or thin.
  • Colored BubblesHomemade bubble mixtures are made even better when you add a tablespoon of glycerin and ¼ cup of corn syrup to your mix. Add some washable watercolor to create colored bubbles for your bubble shooters or bubble machines and have a fun time blowing bubbles with your kids. You can also use bubble bath soap as an alternative to your dish soap so your kids can wade in a bubbly pool in the yard for summer.
  • Trusty Finger PaintsAs part of our Preschool Program in Irvine, we promote the appreciation of different art forms through our activities. We let kids have their own creations that are carefully guided by our staff. Trusty finger-paints always make arts and crafts fun in school. With these activities, children develop the artists in them by making their own wonderful pieces. Slicing up different fruits, which you can dip and stamp on colored paper, can also be used with finger paints to have colorful projects at home. Finger paints are so versatile, that you can do so much more with them.

Our Childcare Center in Irvine, California focuses on giving our infants, toddlers, and preschoolers a colorful environment where they can see themselves have an enjoyable time learning new things to make them smarter and more independent.

Create colorful new adventures for your toddlers and preschoolers and let them explore their inner artists at Little Leaderz Day Care, Inc.
