Here are tips we found out to be especially effective in our after-hours childcare and weekend daycare in Irvine:
- Start with you—model leadership behavior to your child and make sure to explain your actions so he/she fully grasps them.
- Hone their communication. All good leaders are good communicators. To do this, don’t forget to teach them how to listen well first before going about how to respond well.
- Practice problem-solving. This can be as simple as solving if-then scenarios to making a decision for his/her group in a class activity.
- Guide him/her in working with their peers. Teamwork is essential in making things happen. Teach your child how to get along well with his/her group by guiding him to see things from a different point of view.
