Teaching our children to be kind, friendly, and respectful is a given especially when they begin to attend their day care in Irvine. But did you know that as early as right now, you can already hone their leadership skills?

That’s right! Contrary to what most know, all children have inborn leadership qualities. In fact, at our childcare center in Irvine, California at Little Leaderz Day Care, Inc., we continuously work on this potential in every child we serve.

So how can you help your child develop their leadership skills?

Here are tips we found out to be especially effective in our after-hours childcare and weekend daycare in Irvine:

  1. Start with you—model leadership behavior to your child and make sure to explain your actions so he/she fully grasps them.
  2. Hone their communication. All good leaders are good communicators. To do this, don’t forget to teach them how to listen well first before going about how to respond well.
  3. Practice problem-solving. This can be as simple as solving if-then scenarios to making a decision for his/her group in a class activity.
  4. Guide him/her in working with their peers. Teamwork is essential in making things happen. Teach your child how to get along well with his/her group by guiding him to see things from a different point of view.
