Ways to Promote Learning at Home

Learning never stops, even when school is out of session. As a childcare center in Irvine, California, we believe that the home plays an important role in shaping a child’s character, individuality, and talent.

You can do several things to make your home a place of discovery and learning for your children. Here are some suggestions from our day care in Irvine:

  • Read and read and read.
As any weekend daycare in Irvine would tell you, reading to your children has many benefits. It is a great bonding opportunity. It can also help them build their vocabulary and communication skills, as well as encourage their imagination.
  • Make each day a learnable moment.
Children learn best by doing. Therefore, make them more involved. Answer their questions, ask them your own, allow them to help with cooking, and let them try to do things on their own. By letting your children try these, they can experience what life is like beyond their preschool program.
  • Lessen their gadget use.
Technology has its benefits, but too much of it is not a good thing. Our after hours childcare recommends limiting your children’s gadget use and letting them focus on other activities, such as board games and arts and crafts instead.
  • Do projects together.
Create projects based on your children’s interests. If they like art, then allow them to paint and draw. If they like to act, then encourage them to make and act in their own play. Join in on the fun, too!
